Abstract

It is a useful and important work for researchers in the social sciences who are interested in the urban question in Latin America and particularly in how to interpret it from a new vision of Marxist theory, and may also reach those students of that theory interested in discover new approaches to "structural heterogeneity" in Latin American societies or cities, as the title of the work indicates. In the book, the author seeks to critically review the positivist approaches elaborated around the formality-informality opposition and its political consequences; likewise, it seeks to contribute to the development of reflection on these issues from the Marxist tradition.
