Abstract

An in-depth analysis of the journal’s evolution in the publication of articles relevant to urban-regional issues since the current version appeared in 1986 until its most recent edition in 2023. The text divides this period into four stages, to reveal quantitative and qualitative changes in regard to: the impact of urban-regional studies in comparison to those focusing on population issues; the Center’s researchers’ involvement in authoring the articles; the presence of regional subjects and their relation to urban studies; the most common themes and subthemes, particularly in city case studies; the methodology and theoretical development of a set of comparative studies analyzed in depth. These analyses and changes are ultimately related to certain advances in urban research in Mexico and Latin America.
