Within the context of the existing studies on regional disparities in Mexico, this article provides a detailed analysis of the development of inter-regional inequalities between 1970-1980. It seeks to determine whether the inequalities among different regions have been decreasing or whether they have continued to increase, as was observed during the 1900-1970 period. On the basis of the two regionalizations used, the conclusion is drawn that the tendency towards greater regional inequalities in Mexico persisted during 1970-1980.
