Digital preservation policy
Estudios Demográficos y Urbanos keeps all the documents it publishes electronically in its editorial office. In addition, the Computer Services Coordination of El Colegio de México, A.C. supports and protects its website. The Daniel Cosío Villegas Library of this institution is creating a digital repository that allows digital access to documents, as well as their long-term preservation and future transfer to different digital formats when required.
Open Journal Systems is compatible with the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) system for a permanent and safe archive of the journal. LOCKSS is an open-source system developed under the auspices of Stanford University that allows libraries to preserve selected web journals seeking regularly in the registered journals to compile newly published content and archiving it. Each archive is continually validated using records kept by other libraries, as well as any damaged or lost content that can be restored using those records or the journal itself.
Check the LOCKSS Publisher Manifest webpage.
All articles published in the journal are assigned a unique and permanent digital object identifier (DOI) in order to facilitate their perpetuity, location and recovery.
