About the Journal

Estudios Demográficos y Urbanos is a scientific journal specializing in analysis and reflection on population, urban and environmental issues of Latin America, with particular emphasis on Mexico, from a social science perspective. The journal is intended for a specialized audience and uses double-blind peer review for the texts in every section.

Since its inception in 1986, Estudios Demográficos y Urbanos has been one of the main forums in its areas of specialization. In the Articles Section, it publishes theoretical reflections, methodological proposals and the results of academic research in its fields of interest. The Notes and Commentaries Section includes theoretical essays, accounts of academic events and methodological applications to specific data bases. The Reports Section describes the contents and results of the scientific community’s activities (conferences, seminars, forums, etc.) conducted on some of the areas of research on which the journal focuses. The Interview Section comprises dialogues with renowned specialists on the issues covered in the journal, whose importance warrants their dissemination in a scientific journal. The Reviews and Bibliographical Commentaries Section analyzes the most recent publications on population, urban and environmental issues.

The journal is published in Spanish, with abstracts and keywords in English.  It appears quarterly (January, May, September), in open access electronic and print versions. The journal is published by the Center for Demographic, Urban and Environmental Studies at El Colegio de México.
