Abstract

This set of reflections addresses the problem of social inequality in urban areas, specifically in Mexico City, from a phenomenological social perspective. Through the narratives of its inhabitants, it explores the experiences of inequality regarding interactions with strangers in various places. One of the resulting arguments is that spatial, emotional and identity dimensions are closely linked in this type of experience, to which the phenomenon of social fragmentation contributes. The proposed approach is also useful for making these links visible.
